Winner of the 2006 Western Canadian Music Award for Outstanding Children'sAlbum, Lana Rae is a children's performer and songwriter who writes about what she knows---the quirks and challenges of raising children and being a parent. As a singer, songwriter, performer, mother, entrepreneur and schoolteacher all rolled into one creative force, Lana Rae is originally from New Westminster B.C. but has resided in Whitehorse, Yukon for many years.

Her early influences of pop, then country resulted in an incredible country CD entitled Nichols and Rae, “Never Too Late For Love”, which she recorded on music row in Nashville Tennessee with some of Nashville’s hottest session players.

In 1997, however, she took an abrupt turn and found her greatest inspiration coming from her three children who encouraged her through daily life experiences to write and record 2 Children's CDs, "I Just Want To Be Little" and the newly released "I Gotta Be Me".

Lana Rae’s first release "I Just Want to Be Little", is aimed at anyone who has ever been a kid! It offers an incredible blend of original songs that have kids dancing and singing, while parents are humming the unforgettable hooks! The lyrics and music include catchy titles like; "Lumps In My Socks", "Mud Is My Bud", and "Cows Want To Be Pretty Too". Delivering a new edge to the children's market, this CD was nominated for a West Coast Music Award in 2002 and chosen as the Canadian Children’s Book Centre Choice.

In 2004 Quizam media www.quizam approached the songwriter with an offer to collaborate on their innovative computer quiz game called Quizam. As a result Lana Rae’s songs have been incorporated with the program and are being heard throughout school systems in North America and Great Britain.

The new release, Lana Rae “I Gotta Be Me” will have as much appeal to adults as it does to children while it continues the amazing journey through childhood using life experience as the creative force behind the 11 original, funky, laugh ‘til you cry, rocking tracks.

Whether performing solo or with a band, Lana Rae’s songs successfully transport the listener to a time of childhood fun and imagination. The lyrics and melodies have an edge of sophistication while retaining a humourous quality that appeals to "kids of all ages"……….reminding you that growing up is a state of mind and totally optional..
